The Fabricant – immaterial fashion

The Fabricant – immaterial fashion

Amber Jae Slooten takes the demand for ‘less fashion’ seriously: for The Fabricant she creates digital fashion. The Fabricant’s digital technology is leading in the world of motion design for fabrics and fashion. Slooten proves that we can do with less ‘real’ products in the fashion process. She sees a future in which consumers try on clothes on a personalized 3D model. With her digital styles Slooten wants to prevent the production of clothes that will most likely not be sold. Furthermore, with digital fashion it is possible to create the craziest designs, ‘wear’ them digitally and show them off on social media, without the need to physically produce the clothes.

Slooten is co-founder and creative director of The Fabricant, a company that uses visual effects from the film industry to create hyper-realistic fashion shows. She graduated in 2016 from Amsterdam Fashion Institute. If she’s to decide what we will wear in the future, it will be virtual clothes only.

Amber Jae Slooten was a finalist in the TV series Toekomstbouwers (‘The future builders’) from Dutch broadcaster VPRO.
